Easy Access Poetry: A US/UK Collaboration

Project Statement:

In late April 2018, the British writer Chris Walsh and I decided to start exchanging poems. We had been chatting over Twitter, and became friends. I have a sleep disorder matched with a Twitter addiction that makes me often on Twitter during British time zones of awakeness. C. Walsh and I exchanged a few poems. It immediately struck me just as with my valeveil collaboration with the Swedish poet Grant Watkins, that poetry from two different countries held up next to one another reflect and refract what is similar and different between those countries and personalities. I was intrigued. I present here, as it grows, the collaboration:

Collaborator Bio:

Chris Walsh is originally from Middlesbrough, the north-east of England. He has always written but it is only in the last couple of years that he’s started to actively seek to meet other writers, and people in the publishing industry. For many years he was a businessman, and has had over twenty jobs besides, from teacher to care assistant to bin man to floor mopper. Chris is currently writing a memoir of all of these jobs, and has serious agent interest. He finished his first novel in 2014 The Dig Street Festival, about a supermarket cleaner who is obsessed with Scott of the Antarctic. It remains unpublished. Chris has always written poems too. He has three children and lives in Kent, UK.
